Security Guard Courses
Security Guard Courses
There are many types of security guard courses offered to professional security officers. Security training allows security guards to become more knowledgeable and qualified in their profession, which is an important step for those seeking higher wages and career advancement.
Many security guard jobs require specific certification, the most common of which are powers to arrest, WMD training (both required for the California Guard Card), CPR/first aid, baton, mace and acquiring an armed license. Most courses are conducted at training facilities where one must travel and learn in a classroom setting. We at GuardTrainingOnline.net make the process easier, faster and more affordable by offering many of these same courses online. Please view our homepage for more details.
Many students prefer to take multiple courses at once. As mentioned, this enables them to increase their level of expertise in multiple areas, thus making them more employable. It also qualifies them for a higher pay rate. But the more courses you take, the more expensive it is. You must determine what your educational budget is and what your needs are. If you are a student, for instance, who just wants to work part time and earn some extra money, it may not be advisable to take numerous courses. You would only need to get a security guard guard which can be obtained through taking a single basic introductory course. If, however, your objective is to become a police officer or a professional security officer and rise through the ranks of the security industry, then multiple security guard courses could really benefit you. Either way, you have come to the right place. We advise that you start with getting your security guard card. It does not take long and once you pass testing and are approved by the state you can start working right away.
Typically, most security guard courses do not take more than a day or two to complete, but each has its own set of requirements. It is highly recommended that you find out the exact requirements before you take any security guard course. For example, to qualify for a security guard card, most states require that you be at least eighteen years of age, pass a criminal background check, and pass a test that measures your level of security knowledge. Most courses come with study material, and should you fail to pass the test, you are usually allowed an opportunity to study and retake the exam at no additional cost in most cases, but not always. That is why it is always a good idea to ask questions and know the facts before signing up to take any course.
If you have a felony or a criminal record, passing a course will not help you land a job. Again, to qualify for a security guard license you must pass a state background check. Each state has different rules and regulations pertaining to what they expect and allow for licensing. Check with your state to make sure that you meet all of the qualifications.
Some certification courses, however, do not require any background check and are good for even non-professionals to take. Everyone could benefit from CPR and First Aid.
